  • Born 1936 in Berlin. Studied communication and law as well as Eastern European history in Berlin and Cologne.
  • 1967 admitted to practise as a lawyer
  • 1963 – 1984 journalist (including post as correspondent for the Hamburg Abendblatt (renowned evening newspaper), Neue Zürcher Zeitung, Rias Berlin, Editor in Chief of the television channel NDR).
  • 1973 gained his doctorate: Dr. iur. utriusuque (Cologne).
  • 1984 – 1987 director of Rias Berlin. 1987 – 1991 director at NDR
  • 1990 appointed as Professor of the School of Music and Theatre, Hamburg. Appointed as honorary professor of the German School of Administrative Sciences, Speyer.
  • Since 1995 has provided strategic advice to publishers specialising in the sciences
